Strengthening its commitment to sustainable agriculture, experiential learning, and community development, Isabela State University (ISU) San Mariano Campus officially held the Soft Opening of its Farm Tourism Site on April 7, 2026. The milestone event brought together university officials, local government leaders, faculty members, staff, students, and community partners to celebrate a new initiative that integrates agriculture, education, and tourism.

The program commenced with an invocation and the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, followed by messages from university and local government officials highlighting the significance of the Farm Tourism Site as a hub for innovation, learning, and environmental stewardship.

In her welcome remarks Prof. Drolly P. Claravall, Campus Administrator, emphasized that the Farm Tourism Site reflects the university’s vision of transforming its agricultural resources into an interactive learning environment where students, researchers, and visitors can appreciate modern farming practices while promoting sustainable development. He noted that the facility will serve as a venue for instruction, research, extension programs, and community engagement activities that showcase the campus’ agricultural potential.

Delivering an inspirational message Prof. Precila C. Delima, Vice President for Academic Affairs underscored the importance of creating learning spaces that bridge academic knowledge with practical experiences. She expressed confidence that the Farm Tourism Site will become a valuable resource for students and a model for agricultural innovation and environmental conservation.

Representing the Local Government Unit of San Mariano, Hon. Jan Carlo B. Sumisim, Municipal Councilor, lauded the University’s efforts in organizing an initiative that promotes agricultural awareness, community engagement, and local tourism. He reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to supporting programs that foster sustainable development, enhance economic opportunities, and highlight the rich agricultural heritage and cultural identity of San Mariano.

The occasion was further enlivened by a cultural performance from the Binang-Alan Performing Company, whose presentation reflected the vibrant traditions and artistic excellence of the campus community.

The highlight of the event was the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, symbolizing the official soft opening of the ISU San Mariano Campus Farm Tourism Site. Designed as a living laboratory and visitor destination, the facility aims to provide immersive learning experiences, promote climate-resilient and sustainable farming practices, and strengthen partnerships among the university, local government units, farmers, and other stakeholders.

The successful launch of the Farm Tourism Site marks another milestone in ISU San Mariano Campus’ pursuit of academic excellence and community engagement.
