The Isabela State University – San Mariano Campus joined the celebration of ASEAN Month through a vibrant and meaningful gathering that highlighted cultural appreciation, student participation, and the spirit of unity among the ASEAN community.

Before the formal program commenced, all personnel of ISU San Mariano Campus participated in an ASEAN-inspired march, proudly wearing colorful and culturally inspired attire representing the diverse traditions and identities of the ASEAN member-states.

The march served as a meaningful opening to the celebration, with the personnel showcasing their creativity, enthusiasm, and solidarity in support of ASEAN Month. More than a display of colorful attire, the activity symbolized unity in diversity and the campus community’s appreciation of the rich cultures of Southeast Asia.

Following the march, the formal program commenced with a message from Dr. Rockangel Jamoral, Director of Student Affairs and Services (SAS). In his message, Dr. Jamoral emphasized the significance of ASEAN and the importance of developing students’ awareness and appreciation of the region’s history, cultures, and shared identity.

As part of his message, Dr. Jamoral engaged the students in an interactive question-and-answer activity on ASEAN history, challenging them to recall significant facts about the organization, its member-states, and its development. The activity encouraged active participation while making the celebration both educational and engaging.

Also delivering a message was Prof. Drolly P. Claravall, Campus Administrator, who underscored the importance of celebrating ASEAN as an opportunity to promote unity, cultural appreciation, respect for diversity, and cooperation. Her message encouraged students to value cultural differences and recognize their role in fostering friendship and understanding within the ASEAN community.

The celebration continued with singing and dancing performances presented by the students. Through music and dance, the performers showcased their talents while celebrating the diverse cultural expressions associated with ASEAN. The performances added energy and excitement to the occasion while providing students with an avenue to express their creativity and appreciation of culture.

The ASEAN Month celebration served not only as a festive occasion but also as an opportunity for the ISU San Mariano community to deepen its understanding of ASEAN history, culture, unity, and cooperation. The participation of both personnel and students demonstrated the campus’s commitment to promoting cultural awareness and strengthening regional solidarity.

Through the ASEAN-inspired march, interactive learning, meaningful messages, and lively student performances, ISU San Mariano Campus continues to foster a culture of unity in diversity, recognizing the importance of understanding and appreciating the cultures of its Southeast Asian neighbors.

With culture as a bridge and diversity as a strength, ISU San Mariano Campus stands with ASEAN in promoting unity, understanding, and cooperation.
