“This is an opportunity to showcase the skills and talents of IT students. The participants were carefully selected, and we hope they can demonstrate their level of competency university-wide. Itโ€™s time to show what they have learned from their courses.”

This was the statement of Mr. Romnick Carlos, core faculty of the BSIT program, during the online competition involving Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) students from Isabela State University-San Mariano Campus earlier today, October 3.

Moreover, the activity included participants from the entire ISU system that offers IT courses. Also, the competition featured activities such as general programming, a quiz bowl, database application development, web design, graphics, and multimedia.

In an interview, Dr. Sherwin Ravana, BSIT core faculty, said that the students are well-equipped with the necessary knowledge for this academic competition.

“Yung mga bata natin are ready, even though they didnโ€™t have any practice. However, they have learned a lot and are now prepared for this endeavor. They may not have had formal preparation, but they are immersed in the experience, and hopefully, they will win as part of their journey,” Ravana said.

Meanwhile, Mary Trisha Joy Fugaban, a BSIT 4 student and one of the participants in the competition, shared their preparation for the activity.

“First, nag-meeting kami bilang magkakagrupo, then nag-research din kami para sa information technology. We also browsed online tests like Quizlet and reviewed old modules from first year to fourth year.” Fugaban stated.
