To provide students with additional knowledge and experience in hospitality management and the tourism industry, the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) program of ISU-San Mariano collaborated with the Alliance of Hospitality and Tourism Movers of the Philippines (AHTOMP) for their “Education on Wheels and Membership Caravan 2024” program, held earlier today, September 20, at the Agri-Educ Quadrangle.
In her message, Dr. Ruby B. Dimas, Campus Administrator, emphasized the significance of motivation in achieving goals, stressing that motivation is crucial for pursuing ambitions and attaining success.
Moreover, Dr. Kristopher Lopez, Academic Affairs Director, highlighted the importance of immersing students in activities that promote learning and development.
“The department wants to give you the best experience, not only academically but also through other linkages that allow you to explore and immerse yourselves in activities that will help you grow,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Dr. Aisie Liban, International Affairs Director, underscored the benefits of the endeavor.
“One of the benefits of this is strengthening linkages with different associations, allowing you to experience high-quality and world-class immersion,” Liban said.
On the other hand, Ivanz Amir Farnacio, AHTOMP Director for Technical, Planning, and Events, introduced the organization’s mission to support students studying hospitality and tourism management by providing training opportunities in hotels and restaurants.
In his discussion, Dr. Antonel L. Albano, Founder and President, spoke about leadership and how to overcome the challenges that come with it.
“Leadership is about guiding and influencing others toward a common vision or goal,” he reiterated.
He also added that to be an effective leader, one must be humble, overcome fear, and manage stress and anxiety effectively.
Meanwhile, Mr. Reymark Leyesa, Director for the Cruise Industry, explained the workings and services of the cruise tourism industry.
“It’s all about the wants, satisfaction, and needs of customers. It’s the services we provide to our customers,” he stated.
Additionally, Reynaldo De Guzman, Chef at Manila Grand Opera Hotel and Casino, discussed Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and demonstrated his cooking skills to the students.
The event concluded with the BSHM students taking an oath to become official members of AHTOMP, pledging their support for the organization’s programs and activities.
