Isabela State University – San Mariano Campus commemorated Republic Act No. 10398, known as the National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children, on November 28, 2023, at the Agri-Educ Quadrangle.
The campus participated in the 18-day campaign to end Violence Against Women (VAW), conducted annually every November 25. The campaign aims to raise awareness about laws protecting women and girls, including the Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act of 2004 (RA 9262) and the Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313).
Mrs. Jennifer Tabliago, Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Person, underscored the seriousness of violence against women and children, emphasizing its impact on individuals, families, and communities. Dr. Ruby Dimas, Campus Administrator, stressed the importance of addressing VAW at the family and community levels.
Mr. James E. Batag, BSEd core faculty, delivered a lecture on the Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313) and discussed the challenges faced by women. His insights shed light on the need for continued efforts to combat VAW.
With the theme “UNITEd for a VAW-free Philippines,” ISU-San Mariano Campus urges everyone to support the advocacy, raise awareness, and take action to end violence against women and children.
